The spaces at Emmanuel Road were designed around the notion of clerestory lighting. The shifts in height allow for shafts of light to penetrate the living spaces; while generously proportioned openings frame the garden beyond, bringing the richness of the garden inside. The lowered dining area allows for a more immediate connection to the garden. A subtleness in material selection has allowed for a considered yet varied texture to the existing building. A handmade brick both blends nicely while reassuring us that it is a contemporary structure; with a pleasant configuration of living spaces.
