SLIP MILL LANE

It is proposed to restore the Granary Cottage to its original appearance, with a sensitive reconfiguration of the internal layout of the property to accommodate an improved modern dwelling; the appearance of the property will be enhanced through restoration to its original appearance where possible, and through the addition of subtle alterations that respect the existing character of the building and its neighbours.

The proposed alterations are primarily interior, and as a result will not affect the neighbouring properties. A new free standing stair is proposed to improve circulation within the building. The non-original ceiling is removed at the first floor to reveal the open timber structure and create a sense of height and lightness, in both the common circulation areas and in the kitchen.

The primary materials used within the proposal, white painted weatherboard, brick and timber, are informed by the existing historic fabric of the building, and will be maintained or replaced where necessary.
