The proposal is to create a basement excavation for the purpose of providing light and double height space, and to transform a dark and compromised two bedrooms property into a light and airy three-bedroom unit. The approach is a gradual phasing of transitions - spread over three spaces at different levels - slowly blurring the distinction between the enclosed and the open. The garden would not just penetrate the new lower ground floor but will possess it. A sequence of external rooms in between the interiors leading from the street towards increasingly private interiors of the residence.
