HASA architects have been appointed to reconstructand remodel a Victorian terraced house in west London. Our proposal retains only the perimeter walls to the house, and the garden walls to the rear, an entirely new structure is proposed. The house will now connect out into the garden to a new pavilion, which will sit at the end of the garden and face back to the original house, forminga courtyard that is enclosed. The courtyard provides light and ventilation to the living and studio space, whilst offering framed views and communication between the individual rooms it unifies. At the second floor a new roof addition is proposed to create a second bedroom with ensuite , a plywood staircase connects the floors together creating a visual reference . The work, which included extensive structural interventions, excavations and large glazed elements was all achieved on an extremely confined site with no vehicle access.
